Yesterday I had the joy of photographing fourteen year old Noah Pereira and his father Lou who have a team of Alaskan husky sled dogs. The Pereira’s became hooked on the sport after attending the 2009 Iditarod in Alaska. I love this photo because it shows how much the dogs love to pull the sled. As Noah hitches up “Jumbo” at left, “Cashew” just can’t contain himself and howls as he pulls to start their run.

I was shooting an assignment at the Kango Play Center in Henrietta yesterday and in the middle of all the kids playing was Lucien Robinson, age 3, of Brighton, having a good old time driving “Garfield” the cat. It was just funny for watch.

While wandering Canandaigua at dusk last night looking for photos for our upcoming Ontario LIfe section, the sun briefly turned the sky over the north end of the lake a brilliant red. It only lasted about 10 minutes, but I was glad I was there to experience it and of course document it as well.

I was in the courtroom today when Frank Sterling was released after being cleared in the murder of Viola Manville in 1988. Sterling spent 18 years in jail for a crime he didn’t commit. Waiting for him in court where longtime friends Jim and Sharon Adam. The Adams were emotional as the judge said the words that Sterling was a free man. He came over to greet them afterwords for an happy reunion. Sterling will live with the Adams’ for awhile as he gets used to his new life as a free man.
Snow face - 12/28/2009 - Photo by Annette Lein - With an overnight snowfall and more coming, I headed out to shoot people playing in the snow for tomorrow’s paper. Fellow photographer Jamie Germano went to Ellison Park to shoot, so I went to Mendon Ponds Park and found these three college buddies hooking two small sleds together and heading down one of the steeper slopes. I keyed on them as they were making great faces as they kept falling off their sleds on the way down. It made for a fun and lucky picture.

Maddison Campbell waits in the wings of East Irondequoit Eastridge High School’s stage for her cue to enter during a dress rehearsal of “Awakenings”. The play was written and directed by five East Irondequoit students and will be performed this Friday and Saturday night.
